Fundamental Immunology

Immunoengineering rests on sophisticated knowledge of how the immune system functions and malfunctions. Among other subjects, researchers at Georgia Tech investigate pathogen and autoimmune self-antigen recognition by T- and B-cells of the adaptive immunity, the trafficking of cells through blood and lymphatic vasculatures, and signaling events that control the key functions of antigen-presenting dendritic cells and their interactions with biomaterials.
